CAD Symbols (2D and/or 3D Environment)

Status:  Active/Open (Currently looking for Volunteers)

The intent of this Working Group would be to identify, prioritize, and present to PTC common symbols issues  users have with the Symbol Functionality (including creation,maintenance, and placement), along with suggestions on how the functionality could be improved to make Symbols a more efficient tool. 

 

Deliverable:  Whitepaper

 

This Working Group will be composed of a cross-section of Creo users from the PTC/USER Creo CAD, Model-Based Enterprise, and Detail Technical Committees, along with other Creo experts. 

 

Size:  The maximum size is 20 individuals.

 

 

 

 

FlexPLM Calendar Workflow

Status:  Active/Open:  Currently looking for volunteers

Working Group Description:

 

Improve ability to provide a holistic view of product progress across its planning and development lifecycle, including but not limited to exploring:

  • Improved integration with the natural flow of work (versus requiring additional calendar/workflow specific actions and clicks)
  • Providing an integrated view of progress across multiple associated objects: product, colors, samples, materials, sourcing
  • Other opportunities as identified via the working group

Creo Manufacturing

 Status:  Active/Open:  Currently looking for volunteers

Customer Working Group Leader:  Dirk Schlinkmann (Screen Name:  DirkS

The purpose of this group will be to discuss challenges and areas for improvement as it relates to Creo NC.

Topics for discussion will include customer use cases and needs to enhance Creo NC.

 

This Working group will include the following activities:

  • Bring use cases, ideas and requirements to enhance Creo NC.
  • Demonstrate customer use cases.
  • Provide early product feedback to PTC.

 

Group members must be willing to actively participate with the group, as follows:

  • Share their working practices and experiences
  • Define and capture use cases and requirements, along with expressing its business value
  • Evaluate and provide feedback on potential solution ideas

 This focus group is to collaborate with PTC on the development of Creo NC.

During the discussion, PTC will work with the group to discuss use cases, define requirements and review specifications.

The group will provide feedback during implementation and verify that the targeted use cases have been addressed. The group will also detail out gaps that still exist.

Integrity Lifecycle Manager Administration Working Group

Status:  Active/Open:  Volunteers can still join this group.

Working Group description and objective – The PTC Integrity Lifecycle Manager Administration will provide a platform for the following:

  • Provide a platform to support customer-to-customer discussions
  • Get very concrete feedbacks from our customers about missing product features
  • Validate existing customer individual solutions in relation to alignment with PTC’s product roadmap
  • Exchange product roadmap and directions
  • Involve customers and partners early in product roadmap discussions
  • Structure existing Community Ideas, provide concrete input to Product Managers
  • Provide input for spin-offs to develop add-on’s for the Integrity Lifecycle Manager

 

Working Group deliverable – White paper, Tips, Presentations, Functionality Specifications

Navigate Working Group

 

Status:  Active/Open: Currently looking for volunteers.

Working Group Leader:  Sohaiyla Khalili (Screen Name: skhalili)

 

This  Navigate Working group will include the following activities:

  • Bring use cases, ideas and requirements to enhance Navigate Out of the box contribute and view apps.
  • Demonstrate customer tailored apps.
  • Discuss deploy challenges.

Provide early product feedback to PTC.

Windchill Dev Ops

Status: Active/Open- Currently looking for volunteers.

Working Group Leader:  Jean-Louis Beaulne (Screen Name:  JLBeaulne)

 

DevOps concepts accelerate change propagation and increase quality through consistent testing and deployment by automating these tasks.

 

This working group will work towards automating Windchill system administration tasks to streamline the delivery of changes to Windchill.

 

PTC uses methods for Windchill regression testing.  Some of these techniques can be leveraged by clients to run tests on their Windchill systems to validate changes they want to implement.

 

Deliverables :

The objective is to produce white papers or procedure kits to get users started with :

  • Windchill test automation
  • Windchill deployment automation (configurations, codebase…)

European Union Medical Device Regulation Workgroup

Status:  Active/Open:  Currently looking for volunteers.  

Working Group Leader: Michael Prudhomme  PTC (Screen Name: mprudhomme) and Robyn Gold PTC (Screen Name:  RobynGold)

Description:

The purpose of this group will be to discuss the challenges and progress among workgroup members trying to comply with the upcoming European Union Medical Device Regulation.  The format will be discussion and prioritization of key topics with the express purpose of identifying activities and solutions which can be used by all group members. The intent is to facilitate collaboration between with customers, partners and PTC regarding solutions. 

Group members must be willing to actively participate with the group as follows:

  • Members will share best practices for EU MDR rollout,
  • Work to define process changes and technology automation
  • Identify gaps in processes, workflows and technologies
  • Share solutions from workgroup members, PTC and PTC partners

Collaborative AR Design Review Process-Working Group

Status:  Active/Closed (Full Capacity has been reached).

PTC Group Leaders: MarkLobo and SteveShaw

 

The goal of this working group is to discover pain points and areas of improvement within the design review process and to generate ideas on how emerging technologies can be part of the solution. We are looking for members with intimate knowledge of their company’s design review process, both as a facilitator who helps prepare and run review sessions and participants, those who must review design information and provide feedback/input/approvals as part of this process. As a member the expectation is that you are willing to set time aside to share your experiences, including current pain points, and ideas regarding the design review process and how new technologies might improve and/or enhance these activities. If you are interested in participating, please contact one of the group leaders for admittance into the group.

 

Model-Based Work Instructions

Status:  Active/Open:  Currently looking for volunteers. 

Customer Working Group Leaders:  Myon Caruthers (Screen Name:  mcaruthers) and (Screen Name:  JoseResendis)

 

Working Group description and objective – Identify requirements that need to be met in order to re-use CAD models to generate Model-Based Work Instructions.  These requirements could be documented in the form of CAD modeling standards or best practices that Creo designers can use to ensure that the models can used to author the Model-Based Work Instructions. In addition to defining these requirements for the CAD models, how the features or contents of the CAD models are used to author the work instructions.  In other words, applications such as Creo Illustrate and Anark can use the CAD models defined per these requirements to enable powerful, intuitive capabilities to generate the highest quality Model-Based Work Instructions.

MBD Core Annotation Capabilities

Status:  Active/Open:  Currently looking for volunteers.

Working Group description and objective – Work together to improve the user experience of annotating 3D models and identify new and changes to existing 3D annotation capabilities.  (Creo Parametric and Creo View)

Managing document relationships to parts and the engineering BOM

 

Status: Active/FULL:  This group has reached capacity and is currently closed to new membership.

Working Group Leader:  Steve Shaw PTC (Screen Name: SteveShaw) Customer Lead: Lewis Lawrence (Screen Name:  LewisLawrence )

Description:

 

The purpose of this group will be to discuss challenges and areas for improvement as it relates to the various aspects of creating and maintaining the connection of content (CAD, Dynamic and Documents) to parts and bills of material in Windchill.  Topics for discussion will include customer use cases and needs for relating documents to parts, associating CAD to Parts for the purposes of passing attributes, representations and driving the creation of their engineering bill-of-material using both bottom-up and top-down, or part centric, methodologies.

 

Group members must be willing to actively participate with the group, as follows:

  • Share their working practices and experiences 
  • Define and capture use cases and requirements, along with expressing its business value
  • Evaluate and provide feedback on potential solution ideas

Family Tables and the Model-Based Enterprise

Status:  Active/Open:  Currently looking for volunteers.

Customer Working Group Leader: Ryan Gelotte (Screen Name:  RyanAE )

Description and Objective – Identify all of the challenges that come with Family Tables when trying to implement the Model-Based Enterprise versus documenting Families on a 2D drawing.  Theses challenges include but are not limited to documenting Families using MBD practices which are significantly different than using a single tabulated drawing, managing changes to each part, how to handle derivatives of the Family Table models, etc.

Deliverable – White paper, Creo roadmap

Duration – 6 months - 1 year, start asap

Working Group intended participant profile, max size – Participants would have a good understanding of current company processes for using Family and how their company manages them in Windchill today. Participants would also need to understand how the Family Table instances are related to the “Parts” that they define and how changes to both the Part and the Family Tables are managed.

Multi Body Working Group

  Status: Active/Open:  Currently looking for volunteers.

Focus Group for Multi-Body Use Cases in Creo

Working Group Leader: Martin Neumueller, PTC  (Screen Name:  mneumueller)

 

This focus group is to collaborate with PTC on the development of selected key “multi-body” projects during the Creo 6.0/7.0 development cycles.  During the discussion, PTC will work with the group to discuss use cases, define requirements, review specification and implementation.

Focus areas relate to the use cases such as:

  • Multi-body usage for Additive Manufacturing
  • Multi-body part design and design in context methodologies
  • Embedded component use cases, for example
    • Sheet metal, regular or molded parts with inserted HW (PEMs, weld nuts, rivet nuts, etc)  
    • Welded assemblies
    • Inseparable Assemblies (purchased components)  
  • Multi-body for design collaboration

Participants should be experienced Creo Parametric users that are currently dealing with work arounds for these use cases. Participants should also be willing to provide example models and additional documentation to illustrate their use cases and requirements.

The group will provide feedback during implementation and verify that the targeted use cases have been addressed. The group will also detail out gaps that still exist.

 

 Deliverables:

Use cases as well as white papers that can be leveraged to improve the capability in the software focused on multi body design.  The group will produce a whitepaper with use case descriptions and related requirements, provide example models, provide feedback during implementation and verify that the targeted use cases have been addressed and detail out gaps that still exist.

Creo Solid Welds

 Status: Active/Open Looking for volunteers.

Customer Working Group Leader: Moe Mastrapasqua, Raytheon (Screen Name:  mmastrapasqua)

The team will work with the PTC PM to continue improvements to the solid weld capability.

Participates should be existing Creo Parametric 3.0 users that are interested in created solid welds in their models.

Sheet Metal experience would be a plus.  In addition, members must have installed and run Creo 4.0, and have used the solid weld functionality.

Deliverables: Use cases as well as white papers that can be leveraged to improve the capability in the software.  Some material was already generated by the TCs.  The Working Group will produce a whitepaper and use cases, verifying that all use cases have been addressed and detailing any gaps that still exist.

Multi-User Creo Schematics

Status:Active/ Open Looking for new members.

Group Leader:  Aron Oler (aoler)

Virtual Interconnect, a PTC Partner, will develop a Multi-User Experience for Creo Schematics.  This approach was agreed to by PTC, Vertual Interconnect, and the Routed Systems Technical Committe at the June 2016 Technical Committee meetings.

Participants should be existing Creo Schematics 2.0 / 3.0 users that are interested in creating a Multi-User experience that they would plan to deploy within their company.

Deliverables: Whitepaper proposing Multi-User versiion of Creo Schematics that will work seamlessly with standard Creo Schematics and Creo Schematics Lite.  The whitepaper will detail use cases and other similar items.

Windchhill PDMLink Web Services Focus Group

Status: Active/ Open Looking For New Members

 

 Group Leader:  Hemant Shadra PTC (Screen Name: HemantShadra)

 

This team will provide input to improve RESTful services offered on Windchill.  Participants should have a point-of-view on services needed in Windchill to:

1.  Expose Windchill data to external systems

2. Create data in Windchill based on data from external systems

3. Enable enterprise integration scenarios

 

Focus Group for Creo Surfacing

Status:

Group Leader:  Mark Fischer  PTC (Screen Name: mfischer)

This Group will work with the PTC PM to define requirements for key surfacing projects to be introduced in Creo 5.0.

Participants should be existing Creo Parametric 3.0 users that are knowledgeable in Surfacing: Style, Freestyle, and traditional surfacing.  In addition, members must have installed and run Creo 4.0.

Deliverables: Use cases as well as white papers that can be leveraged to improve the capability in the software focused on key areas.  Some material was already generated by the TCs.  The Group will produce a whitepaper and use cases, verifying that all the use cases have been addressed and detailing any gaps that still exist.

Windchill Reporting Working Group

Status:  Active/HOLD   (This group is meeting outside the community.  There will be another call for membership in May).

Group Leader:  Jeff Zemsky PTC (Screen Name:  JeffZemsky)

PTC is planning updates to Windchill reporting. This group will help to provide inputs into that process in the form of:

  1. Use of existing out-of-the-box reports
  2. Use of Windchill Business Reporting (Cognos)
  3. Inputs on preferred company BI tools
  4. Current and planned custom reports

 

Participants should be existing Windchill users with experience of using and/or building reports in Windchill

The Ideal Design Review Process / Functionality for MBD

Status:  Active/Open:  Currently looking for volunteers.

Working Group Leader:  Madhavi Ramesh mramesh-2) and Heather Pomerene (hpomerene)

 

This Group will identify and document the various processes used by PTC customers for doing design reviews.  Identify and document key components needed for a successful MBD design review.  Identify and document relationships between design review artifacts and other items/functionality in Windchill and Creo View. Identify and document user interface issues that cause problems today, what is the business impact due to these problems and possibly make suggestions on what could be more intuitive.

Working Group Participant Profile: Participants would have a good understanding of current company

processes for doing design reviews and how their company utilizes Windchill and Creo View today. Participants would also need to have an awareness of current Creo View functionality. The ideal group would have

representation from an operations/manufacturing perspective, engineering perspective and configuration management perspective.

 

 

 

Arbortext Web Based XML Authoring

Status:  Inactive/HOLD:   (This group is on HOLD.There will be another call for membership in August).
