I get an 'Access denied' when trying to access the support ticket I have just created

I've taken a look at your web account to understand what happened here. Your account has a "partnerverified" status, but not the "supportverified" status. This can happen if you registered just as a PTC Partner account using your Partner Customer Number and Security ID.
To remedy, go to https://support.ptc.com/appserver/common/account/secure/wamUpgrade.jsp and enter your customer number and one other piece of proprietary information (SCN | SON | Site Number). Click on the verify link in the email you receive and you should be all set.
