Updates to PTC's Licensing Experience Coming on June 9

We are excited to share that in June, PTC will introduce updates to enhance your product licensing experience. Here’s what you can expect from these improvements:

Single Destination for PTC Licensing

Starting June 9, the PTC Manage Licensing application will be your single destination for all licensing activities. Users will be directed to the PTC Manage Licensing app from PTC eSupport, simplifying access to tools and resources. The legacy License Management Web Tool homepage will be retired, and navigation guides will be available to help you easily find the resources you use most.

Now Supporting More Products

The Manage Licensing app will now support more products including Creo, Mathcad, Arbortext, Codebeamer FlexLM (excluding legacy version), Integrity, CADDS5, and PTC Modeler. These products will adopt the same host management, licensing assignment, and license generation processes that Windchill and ThingWorx users have been using, providing a streamlined and consistent licensing experience across products. Future releases will address migrating the remaining PTC products into the app.

Reporting Enhancements

We are introducing new reporting features within the Manage Licensing app, allowing you to customize views and filter results. This will provide comprehensive data on all active products in your Installed Base (IB), retiring traditional reporting experiences for the Customer Detail Report (CDR) and Business Asset Summary Web Tool (BSWT).

Users with license management privileges were notified by email in April about this release and will receive additional communications leading up to June 9.

One of the most common things I do is Rev Up when new versions of software become available.

I have not found the equivalent to "Rev Up" anywhere in the "improved" app or the faq or the help videos that are available.

Please provide a link to a document or video that shows how to do this.

Hi @RandyJones ,

The step-by-step to manage your license versions, based on the eligible versions available to you, is found in the second half of the "Advanced Configuration" video.

Click by click, here's how:

  • Licensing Hosts # [Select your Host] # Detailed View
  • [Review set version and available eligible versions]
  • # Manage Versions # [Select your new version] # Modify Versions

This then allows you you retrieve your updated license file for the host / product combination.

In case you have any difficulties, or don't see what you're expecting, our License Management team can help you further.

Many thanks,

Peter.

Thanks for the pointer. That video is the one video I did not watch because the link is titled "Advanced Configuration in Access Enablement" which has nothing to do with the content of the video.

I have opened a case with the License Management team because I do not have the "Manage Versions" selection.

@PeterCase

This is the response I got from the License Management team on my issue of missing Manage Versions:

"Please be informed that for the CAD suite of products – including Creo, Mathcad, Arbortext, and others – there is currently no "Managed Version" option available. This is due to the design of the Manage Licensing Application, which is intended to always provide access to the latest version of these products. This approach is feasible because CAD products in this suite are backward compatible, allowing older versions to function with newer license configurations.

If you notice that a license is already associated with a Host ID but does not reflect the latest version, we recommend the following steps:

  • Uninstall the currently installed product from the host machine;
  • Reinstall and reconfigure the product on the same host. This should trigger an automatic update to the latest version."

Seriously?? To "Rev Up" one has to uninstall and reinstall?

So my question of how does one do a Rev Up still stands.

We are currently unable to access the PTC Licensing Dashboard after the update to the new app (https://my.ptc.com/licensing/dashboard). The page fails to load and displays the following errors in the browser console (screenshot attached).

Content-Security-Policy: The page’s settings blocked the loading of a resource (connect-src) at https://dc.services.visualstudio.com/v2/track because it violates the following directive: connect-src 'self' https://*.ptc.com.

Refused to load the script 'https://cdn.cookielaw.org/scripttemplates/otSDKStub.js' because it violates the following Content Security Policy directive: "script-src 'self' https://*.ptc.com 'unsafe-inline' 'unsafe-eval'". Note that 'script-src-elem' was not explicitly set, so 'script-src' is used as a fallback.

This issue persists across multiple browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge), devices, and networks. We have attempted the following troubleshooting steps without success:

- Cleared browser cache and cookies
- Used incognito/private browsing modes
- Disabled all browser extensions
- Tried from devices that have never accessed the site before

It appears this may be a server-side configuration issue related to Content Security Policy settings. Has anyone else encountered similar issues?

Hi @ECampbell ,

Yes we have received reports of the same issue from some other users.  We are actively working on a solution and hope to have it resolved within 24 hours.

In the meantime, there is a workaround.  When you login, you see the dashboard behind a spinning wheel which never stops, right?

  1.  While the page is loading and the wheel is spinning, change the URL to either of the following:
    1. https://my.ptc.com/licensing/product-license
    2. https://my.ptc.com/licensing/manage-host/host-list

The Product Licenses page or Host list respectively should load.

Thank you for your patience and again we are working to get this resolved ASAP.

FYI @ECampbell the spinning wheel issue has been resolved.  You should be able to access the tool without error now.  Please let me know if you still face any trouble.

Thank you! We're able to get in now

Hello,

We have received a few reports of customers getting this error message after clicking to retrieve the license file and our IT team is actively looking into it.  We have been unable to reproduce the issue on our side, I am able to generate license files under your Account without error.  For that reason, our AE team and IT are reaching out to some customers to do a screenshare and try to figure out what is wrong.  Do you perhaps have downloads disabled on your browser?

In the meantime if you need a license file to be generated urgently, please open a ticket at My PTC Assistant and select an option under License Management.  Our AE team will be able to get the file to you.

 PTC | My PTC Assistant

Thank you,

Max

Hello, the case I opened has been replied to. The reason has been found. It was caused by the fact that the name of my PTC Web Account was in Chinese. After I modified it to pure English, the license file could be retrieved successfully
