Keep Knowledge Base Articles Forever!!!

Keep Knowledge Base Articles Forever!!!

Please do not remove obsolete articles from the support knowledge base.  Instead of removing them...

  • Update the existing article with the new information (or)
  • Mark the article as 'Obsolete', but leave it available for future reference (my preference)

If it must be removed, at least link directly to the new replacement article from the old article number.  KB articles and their related hyperlinks should be consider "permalinks".  These should stay valid forever.  Even if the information no longer contains the 'approved' or 'supported' technique, the information may still be valid and useful, especially for those who may not be running the latest releases of PTC software.

We build documentation around these support articles and when the articles suddenly disappear it becomes exceedingly difficult or even impossible to understand what was being described.  I really don't want to start storing separate static copies of every KB article I refer to.  I should be able to trust that the content is going to continue to remain available indefinitely.  Please find a different solution that doesn't include removing the content from the knowledge base.  Thanks.

Agree on this aspect. It translated also to help center content, which is extremely fluid across many versions (speaking about ThingWorx 8.x)
