Call out a view name

Call out a view name

Is there a way to call out a specific view name?  I want to call out in the notes to refer to a specified view, like "View 3A" but I can't find any way to have that actually tie to a view to update if the view name changes.

We've been wanting that forever, but no, there's no way to use that information from a view like you can, say, use a driving dimension or pattern instances in a note.  You gotta do it manually.  *facepalm*

View names seem to be inaccessible. If I had to do something like this, I'd probably take this route:

(1) In the drawing, create a string parameter, like "nameView3A"

(2) Set the value of that parameter to what you want to have the view named as.

(3) Create a note, whose text is a callout of the parameter, i.e. "&nameView3A". Once it's created it will show the parameter setting.

(4) Move that note and attach it to the view it is referring to.

(5) Now, in whatever other drawing notes you need to, just use the same callout ("&nameView3A") to refer to that view.

It's the same technique we use to refer to the drawing number and revision in notes on our drawings.
