Cannot merge style and import feature

Hi,

I'm normally found lurking in the Analysis & Simulation forum.

I have an import feature I need to mesh.

I have an import feature which comes in with a corrupted surface.

IDD sort of fixes the problem but makes a mess of many things in the process. It does mesh but the mesh is rubbish.

I deleted the corrupt surface but could not recreate it with the tools in IDD.

A style feature worked well.

Now I have a style feature that refuses to merge so I can 'solidify'

Perhaps I have approached this the wrong way?

I cannot upload the model but have included some screenshots.

Thanks

Hi Charles, did you try collapsing the new quilt into the import feature?

then fix and solidify it in IDD

I shall give it a go ...

I had a go but IDD wouldn't let me merge.

I eventually managed to create a surface that would merge.

More by trial and error. The order I selected the edges of a patch seemed to be relevant.

What I can't understand is that I didn't have to 'solidify'; it just worked.

Must explore the problem more in spare time and get on with FEA.

Thanks for your help
