Copy out Instance from Family table.

Copy out Instance from Family table.

We have defined our labels with the use of a family table.
This family table is at this moment so big that we have trouble with maintaining the
instances.
So, we are thinking about separating the instances into independent parts.

What is the best way to do that, in combination with Windchill?
Thanks for the suggestions.

With kind regards,

Bert,

1. Check out generic and all instances.

2. Retrieve all instances + generic into session from your Workspace. This can be done in one operation by marking all objects in the workspace and select File > Open In > Open in Creo in from the workspace browser.

3. In Creo go to the generic and delete entire family table.

4. Save generic and all instances from Creo one by one.

5. Check in from the Workspace.

Best regards

+1 on Bjarne's response.

However, when this is done, what are the ramifications on any assemblies
that contained these instances, where the instances are swapped out via
Pro\Program. And in the use of the "Lookup_Inst" function in
assemblies where the parts are used. I welcome a response from PTC on
this.

Without a try, I guess Pro/Program will report a failure. You will not get a warning from Windchill/Creo.
But if you use this functionality in Pro/Program you will not be interested in dissolving you family table in the first place.
If you want to be sure, you must investigate "where used" assemblies before dissolving.
