Creo 2 Parametric Syscol.scl file options

Does anyone have a listing of options that can be put in the syscol.scl color file? we are moving from WF4 to Creo 2.

One of the technicians at PTC stated that their isn't any documentation.

Thanks in advance,

Lance Lie

The technician is right. I once put in a support case to find information on some options I found in the file and I never received a comprehensive response.

The one that stood out was the pre-wf option at the top of my custom settings.

This is the file I use to have pretty much the original Pro|E settings.

However, there are times when this is ignored if you are working with rendering scenes.

Hello,

I tried to make a SCL file that works on both WF4 and Creo 2.0, and this is what I came up with:

What are these "alias" things?... and are those all the UI options, Jakub? ...and where did you find them

I changed the sketcher weak dimension color from the light grey to light blue (same as Geometry, Centerline and Construction ) so users can see them better. I also set sketcher background color to straight black, not blended.

SYSTEM_BACKGROUND_COLOR 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000

ALIAS_SEC_DIM_WEAK_COLOR_TO SYSTEM_SECTION_COLOR

Reason for therse changes is because back in WF4 the dimensions had a black box around them which made it really easy to see when working with shaded models.

Nice, thanks for posting the code.

One question. Have you been able to set the color of curves from dark blue to something else, and also save these changes to the SCL file?

@Tom

These Alias things are good for making datums easily recognizable, or at least that's kind of how I use them.

The UI options I am not sure if they even work anyhow. Propably in WF4 they do, but as far as Creo is concerned, I dunno.

And where did I find them? Good question. I guess it's one of many things that hit me while trying to set up Creo.

PTC really should document these things when they run across them. How hard can it be?

I can change the curve color under geometry. The trick is that when you go from a default color scheme to a custom one, it tries to pick up your latest custom color file and overwrites your changes. You have to blank out that custom color file path from the UI.

SYSTEM_CURVES_COLOR 100.000000 100.000000 100.000000

I doubt PTC is gonna run across these things. Or anyone who can alter the help files in particular.

Hmm, what do you mean by "blank out that custom collor file path from the UI"?

I know I can change the color of curves, but once I store this change to the SCL file, and rerun Creo with it being loaded automatically, the curves just change back to default dark blue color.

In Creo, for some reason if you have default set for the color scheme, and you have a color file designated in your config.pro, for some reason, when you change anything in the options dialog, it defaults back to the color file you specified in config.pro. And you have to remove that entry before you can have it take your new settings.

Sounds like a bug on the curves color if it is not taking. Never really paid attention to it. I have mine set to a blue color so I assumed it was paying attention.

Sounds unbeliveable

But I do get it now. Thanks for the explanation, Tom.

I'll test it tommorow.

I've finally found the issue with datum curves staying in blue color.

I've had this config.pro option set "system_curves_color 0 0 49".

That's why the line "SYSTEM_CURVES_COLOR 0.000000 50.000000 30.000000" from SCL file didn't apply.

Should have thought that the config.pro rules over the SCL file.

I'm having similar issues, as I'm working between WF-5, Creo-1 and Creo-2. I've different clients on different versions, and I need to remain compliant with modeling for their environment.

Switching between versions that are all different, each carrying different environmental color-schemes has become problematic for me as none have been optimimized for older eyes and the Creo-2 sketcher background of white is absolutely the wrong color for resolution of neutral-chroma construction, geometry and dimensional components.

I NEED TO BE ABLE TO CONTROL AND CREATE SIMILAR COLOR-SCHEMES WITHIN THE SKETCHER MODULES.

Is there an entry to syscol.scl or config.pro that will enable me to set, control and maintain these background color-schemes?

I was completely surprised by PTC's admission that there is no documentation to help their customers resolve this, nor is there a library of resources available to their users in helping them to deal with some of the fundamental usability issues of their software.

. . . As though there was a "priesthood" ofPTC accolytes guarding their knowledge as hoarded treasure.

PTC would do well to understand the parts that Lucretius, Poggo Bracciolini and Galileo played in awakening the Renaissance-

-Dale Raymond

Too true, Dale. Even the support people have little insight as to exactly what is going on. I've opened cases to understand the command sin the color files and they couldn't answer my questions. I suspect the talent is long gone and now they are just trying to "not mess it up" (any further). Well, guess what

It was a lot of work getting my old Pro|E color scheme back. Every time we get into this discussion, we get more commands that were never published anywhere.

Antonius-

Good insights! And every year, as I contribute my increasing maintenance tribute, it seems the availability of solutions is reduced by an inverse ratio, . . .

Perhaps it is my expectations of the availability of information and access to the acquired knowledge that the internet provides across every other discipline. One would think that as heavily influenced as PTC is by the impact of legacy information, that this could be an opportunity?

Perhaps it's true as you suggest; PTC has lost control of the code.

. . . an interesting premise for science-fiction. But a nightmare for customers in the real world.

-D

has anyone found the elusive, "change creo color scheme" the white, please, make it stop

Its a rendering artifact. Seems to pop up anytime you mess with the scene environment.

Fortunately, every time you go back to set it back to your custom color file, it remembers your config.pro version so you just have to set it, not hunt for it.
