Datum Conflict Creo 3.0

Datum Conflict Creo 3.0

Trying to create an 'A' Datum on the part.

It tells me the 'A' Datum already exists.

I have deleted everything I can think of to eliminate the conflict, this includes the historical part files.

I cannot see anything labeled 'A'.

Where is my problem?

Try to review the datum name in the list:

Click on File - Prepare - Model Properties - Names - Change

If you find the datum, you can remove from this list and then you will be able to create a new one on your model.

‌There could be a datum that was embedded with a parent feature that is hidden.

Hi Lloyd,

If the above methods do not help you fix the model.  You may need to open a case with TS, so that it can be debugged internally.  Tech Support has tools that will delete and release the name.  But if that doesn't work, then we can create a bug for R&D to go into the code and fix the model.

Thanks,

Amit

To expand on Kevin's response, if your part has an inheritance feature or merge feature, the datum names can come from the original model. There is a datum renaming trick you can do if you still have the problem.

Rename the datums in the parent model to new names like AA, BB and CC.

Regenerate the Inheritance model.

Create new datum planes in the inheritance through the 3 Datums coming

from the parent model. Make these Set Datums and set their names to A, B

and C.

Rename the datums in the parent model back to A, B and C

Regenerate the Inheritance model.

Inheritence Feature Names

Hello Lloyd,

Were you able to get a fix for this issue?  Did you open a TS case or did one of the suggestions from this thread help resolve it?

Thanks,

Amit
