Draft Split at Datum Curve

Newbie

Draft Split at Datum Curve

I have a part that has a parting line that is not straight. Please see
83847_1.jpg for an illustration. The parting line runs horizontal thru
the center of the part and then angles down. I cannot figure out how to
create the draft feature. I think the problem I have is in not knowing
what to use for the reference direction.

I could go on and on about what I have tried. I think I used almost
every combination of split at sketch, split at surface, draft offset,
etc.

An iso view of the part is shown in 83847_2.jpg. It also has the 3
planes showing. I need to get this part to a casting source today as
they are making the tool from my model. Can anyone give me a hint as to
how to use split drafts?

Thanks in advance,

Re: Draft Split at Datum Curve

Is this more or less what you want?

If so, use the horizontal plane as the reference.
