Fastener Tensile Load Requires Entering Preload

ProSimmer's,

If you haven't tried out the new in WF 2.0 Fastener capability, then prepare to be impressed. PTC has finally added this very important functionality in a quite impressive way. Just be aware that the fastener measures get created for you with default names. Be sure to name your fasteners so that the fastener measure name can be clearly distinguished (the fastener name is included as the first part of the fastener measure name).

There's only one thing that I am having trouble understanding.

Does anyone know why you cannot extract fastener axial force unless you specify a "preload" in the fastener definition?

Fasteners always have an axial load present, at least the type of fasteners as utilized in MECHANICA. Furthermore, the axial force should be tensile.

You definitely get an axial force output from a "preloaded" fastener, so the programming is there.

Incidentally, you cannot create any fastener measures using the Measure functionality. All fastener measures get created by the system.

Thanks,
