Mass differences between a flat instance and its developed generic

We have just discovered that the mass of a sheet metal pressing when bent is slightly different than when the bent part is flattened, can someone maybe explain what could be causing this.

In a real piece of metal, bending causes it to stretch and thin. The stretching is accounted for by the k-factor.

There is no way for the software to account for the thinning in the bent state.

The difference in mass is because thinning isn't in the formed model. The software builds the flat and formed models as a uniform thickness. The difference should not be much, but it is obviously noticeable. Based on the above explanation, the flat state will be the more accurate as that is what the shop will use.
