Pattern With Rotation

Topaz II

Pattern With Rotation

Creo 2, M120

I am trying to create a pattern of features that will rotate as they travel.  See the boss in the image below.

I need each group to have the open side of the tower to be oriented in parallel with the green curve.  I need a tower at each datum point. I'm using a "point" pattern. I thought I could make the sketch a spline, either within the sketch or by creating a cosmetic curve copy, then make a datum plane that is normal to the curve.  Then, when patterned, it would turn at each point.  Not so, each plane is normal to the curve segment at the location of the first point. I tried defining the sketch for the open section to be normal to the spline and it does the same.

The group of features patterns fine, it just does not rotate as I need it to. The orientation seems frozen and not updating based on its position on the curve.

Any ideas on how to do this?

Doug,

I can't fix your problem,  but will confirm when working with solid
geometry I have struggled with this very thing.   Even when being very
careful about my selections, it usually has to do with some Pro/E reference
assumption that I can never seem to break.

My work around (as you may have already thought of)...   Build the boss
tower geometry as surface features.  Copy the quilt to the rest of your
spots referencing a point (for location), and a plane (for orientation).
Then trim and solidify the quilts to finish it up.

Good Luck,
Bernie

I have not tried this myself but it might be worth a try to use a pattern table and add the angle for the plane features?Best RegardsDave************************** David Brainsky

I just emailed him. he was getting 32hr. He said his job was filled.
This 25 dollar one is a different one.
