RE: Pro/Mechanica, Ansys, 3rd option ?? Which do I choo<br /> se

Although I have used Pro/E and Algor 'independent' of each other, I know
about a module of Algor where it "Sits" on the Taskbar, along side
File,View etc in the Pro/E window [like Cosmos/Works in SolidWorks] and can
be launched within Pro/E .Any changes in Pro/E model will be automatically
updated in the FEA model whenever Algor environment is opened.

Have a look at this link -
http://algor.com/products/comp_advantage/FEMPRO/modeling/default.asp#incad
<http: algor.com=" products=" comp_advantage=" fempro=" modeling=" default.asp#incad=">
which talks about "Full Associvity" with Pro/E.

I just checked Pro/E website for s/w partners and sure enough, CF design is
the Platinum partner for Pro/E. Even though Algor is a"token Software
partner", it is no 'pushaway' when it comes to cad-interoperability or
analysis capabilities (besides, having a very short learning curve).

A 'complex' model extracted from Pro/E is given here :
http://www.algor.com/partners/ptc/default.asp
<http: www.algor.com=" partners=" ptc=" default.asp=">

This is what I got from Algor Website w.r.t. Pro/E:
INCAD TECHNOLOGY for direct CAD/CAE data exchange with Pro/ENGINEER
for both parts and assemblies
Supports models stored in the Pro/INTRALINK system
A user-controlled feature suppression tool with the option to
suppress details either manually or based on feature size
Full Associvity with each design change for Pro/ENGINEER
Capability to open CAD models in ALGOR even if Pro/ENGINEER is not
open
Ability to create a CAD Transfer Utility installation package to
provide direct data exchange even when ALGOR and Pro/ENGINEER reside on
separate computers

Besides, Probably Liek has to weigh his options in having one integrated FEA
package (AnSYS/ALGOR/Nastran/Pro Mechanica or a 2-3 diff capable FEA s/w,
each specializing in a particular domain. I am curious how do you do multi
physics problems, say a coupled Fluid-Thermal-Structural analysis if we have
say, Pro/Mechanica and CFDesign or Fluent within Pro/E.

Best thing would be to evaluate all the software under contention for a
month or so!! my bet is on
