Thank you all for your quick responses and helpfull hints.
Hints # 3, 5 & 6 nail it.
It turns out that the two components (B & C) depend (assembled using
component A references) and this component (A) is suppressed in the family
table. I fix the dependency and components B & C now show up in the
instance. However, the suppressed component A still doesn't show up as
suppressed in the instance model tree even though the "Suppressed object"
option is turn on in the Tree Filter. Component A doesn't depend on any
other suppressed components and there aren't any missing references.
Suggestion # 4.
I apprecitate your offer for help. Unfortunately, this is ITAR, so I am not
allowed to send the files to any one without filling out all the required
