Thanks for all the replies,

Looks as if these are pretty deep waters. I think I'll see if the firewall
can't be dropped. I used some of the info given to look at what ports are
actually opened, and there are a lot. Especially during a Check Out from
Pro/ILINK.

Here is the original question:

Our IT department is planning to roll out Windows XP Service Pack 2. As
part of this, they intend to implement the Windows Firewall with port
blocking being controlled by Group Policy. Thus, local admins will not be
able to unblock ports blocked by the Windows Firewall.

I am in ME support and am tasked with ensuring that the ME design tools, in
this case Pro/E, Pro/ILINK, Pro/MECHANICA, and ProductView will work in
said environment. PTC Tech support answers that this and such build of
that and such tool is either certified or not, which is helpful as far as
it
goes, but not really what I am looking for. Is anybody currently running
the PTC tools in conjunction with XP SP 2 with the Windows Firewall
enabled?
