datum weirdness

Anyone know how to fix this:

I mad an axis datum B and attached it to the diameter dim. Then I made it perpendicular to datum A and I get this.

Or perhaps I'm going about this wrong.

This is what I thought I was going to get.

Let me be a bit more clear, I'm not trying to get rid of the suction cup. I don't want the datum control on the the dimension. When you lump them all together you can't put the dimension where it ought to be, you have to drag it outside the witness line.

What I'm trying to achieve is one of these. Without having to place the modifier as a free note an then visually place it next to the B datum.

Perhaps this is incorrect for the new standard? I understand it.

Right or wrong, I'm not sure, but when I have that issue I change this dtl option in the drawing:

gtol_datums std_iso

Thanks!
