adding a new wire parameter

I get this:
?msg_err@>>>> error <<<<
?msg_err@Field assignment not defined for type UNSET
when I try to apply a data set to a wire

I added an RSD global parameter called "desc" for some description we use
already in pro diagram and on a pro/e report table.

This description has spaces and such. I want to add this description to my
wires. But when I apply the data set I get that error. I can update or
create a new dataset, I can select a data set but I cannot apply it to a
wire (or connector or anything else for that matter).

Any ideas? The dataset is filled in for "desc"
