Modal Analysis - Are Contacts Supported in Creo Simulate? If Yes, how to inforce them?

Hi Simulate Users,

Within Creo Simulate are contact features supported in a Modal analysis?

If they are, how do you enable them in a Modal Analysis?

If not, does any one know if an enhancement request has been created and where to find it?

No support for Modal and Contacts analysis? No support for Modal and Contacts analysis?

Thanks,

Don

Thanks,
Don Anderson

There is no contact supported for modal.

Modal is a linear solver.

When contact is involved then strictly speaking there are no natural frequencies and solvers get more complicated.

If, for example, there is a bolted connection then the stiffness of the connection should be modelled.

Hello Don,

penalty contact is nonlinear, Modal Analysis is linear.

alternative to nonlinear contact: Fastener

FYI, Trying to analyze a weldment to effects on components touching each other but not bonded together but are held in place by surrounding welds.
