Troubleshoot Vuforia View on HoloLens

Hello,

This is a general question about best practices/ troubleshooting.

 

Is there a way to troubleshoot Vuforia View on the HoloLens? Projects often perform differently from the way they did in the Vuforia preview window. It is nice to use Chrome Developer tools to troubleshoot the preview, is there a similar way to access the error messages and console that might be hidden on the HoloLens itself?

 

At this point, the only method I have to use is trial & error. I try something different in my code and then re-publish to the HoloLens. I wish there was a way to see what exactly is going on.

 

Thanks for any tips -- even if they are odd, resourceful or creative!

The solution is to look into the log file of Vuforia View.

For everyone's convenience, I have copied this from the article:

  • Open a web browser
  • Navigate to device portal by entering the IP address of HoloLens
  • Select File Explorer > Camera Roll from left side menu
  • Download latest log file
    • Vuforia View must be closed to download log file
