I have currently CREO 9.0.0.0 Student Edition installed. When I start the application, a popup message tells me that a new version 9.x.x.x is available. But when I click on the update link, an other message tells me that I cannot update as I don't have a customer number. Does it mean that the Student Edition cannot be updated ?

Yes, PTC does not enable students to access installation media of all 9.x.x.x versions.
Students can download version available on https://support.ptc.com/appserver/auth/it/esd/academicFree.jsp page, only.
