Creo 4.0 30-free trail downloaded from web.

Hi,

When you download and install 30-day free trail version of Creo from https://www.ptc.com/cad/creo/parametric/free-trial you are not able to start Creo after logging into another Windows account.
It is strange because not all of users have administrative privileges to install software, and in many companies softwares are installed via administrator account for all local users.
Any idea how to launch time-limited Creo on local account that was not used during installation process??

Hi Krzysztof,

1.) It looks like Creo 4.0 Trial is running in PTC Cloud.

2.) When I launch PTC Creo Trial Player >>> Creo 4.0 folder appears + Desktop Icons appear

3.) When I exit PTC Creo Trial Player >>> Creo 4.0 folder disappears + Desktop Icons disappear

4.) In PTC Creo Trial Player window I can start/stop Creo in cloud

Creo 4.0 for non-admin user

  • login as non-admin user
  • launch PTC Creo Trial Player ... it does not contain any application
  • download PTC Creo Parametric 4_0 F000_1 CloudPlay.exe again and save its copy on backup directory, too
  • launch PTC Creo Parametric 4_0 F000_1 CloudPlay.exe and login as admin user
  • finish process ... note that PTC Creo Parametric 4_0 F000_1 CloudPlay.exe has been removed !!!
  • that's all
  • restart PC, login as non-admin user, launch PTC Creo Trial Player and you will see PTC Creo Parametric 4_0 F000_1 application
  • now you can start PTC Creo Parametric 4_0 F000_1 application from PTC Creo Trial Player window

Hi,

what is going on, when non-admin user launches Creo 4.0 trial ? Please attach some picture -OR- publish an error message.

Look into parametric.psf file ... find out where license file is located ... maybe it is saved in directory, which is not accessible for non-admin users.

Hi Martin,

during installation of Creo4.0, an additional software is also installed - "PTC Trail Player Powered by Numecent" (screen1.png). It acts as "virtual machine" - when you shut it down, you are not able to start Creo. What is more - shortcuts disappears form Public Desctop.

Creo4.0 in stored in default folder (screen2.png), and of course contains *.psf file. Strange thing is that license_file (C:\Windows\numecent_trial.txt) pointed in *.psf could not be found. Of course I've marked to show all system/hidden files in directory.

If you log as non-admin user Creo4.0 folder disappears (screen3.png), and Creo Trial Player is empty.

I understand that it could sound as science fiction, but it is true. When one of my customer inforned my about it - I did not believe him. But after making attempt by my own - I have to addmit that he is right.

If you have time please make your onw installation, and check. You will be supprised 🙂

regards

Krzysztof

it means that trail version has to be instaled when proper user is looged. if you have 2 users on this same machine you have to download *CloudPlay.exe twice. I've tried to use backuped file from admin-user - without success.

But you are write - doing it in that way solves  issue.

thank you
