@JFSchmidt

If this license (Creo Design Essentials) is part of your license, you can reconfigure your Creo and place this license on top priority to use or create a new start command for Creo to start with specific license.

thank you !

but my main question is more about the recommended hardware configuration (for a laptop or desktop)

Supported platform Details are available at https://support.ptc.com/partners/hardware/current/support.htm

PTC offers a bunch of different license options, but the requirements are for Creo Parametric in general.  They don't break down requirements by specific license configurations.

Windows 10 Pro 64 bit for the OS

16GB memory, the 4GB listed on the sheet Tom linked is an absolute minimum and performance will be terrible! 8GB is marginal.

Get a Nvidia graphics card or an  ATI, but be sure it is an OpenGL card, not a DirectX card. While some DirectX cards may work, PTC has not tested them and if you have a graphics issue, they may not help you. I prefer the professional Nvidia Quadro cards.

Disk space is up to you, but I prefer 2 drives so the data files are not on the same disk as the applications. SSDs are really fast and not much more if any these days.
