Hello,
When you buy a Creo Licence, they add a creo "home use" licence. If i install this licence on my personal computer, can I make commercial use of it ? But without any link with my employer who purchases the initial Creo license for my work.
Concrete example :
- I work in a design office of a private company with a Creo license. So i have a "home use" license in addition. On my personal time, the week-end for exemple, on my personal computer (no connection with my employer). Is it possible to design parts, print it in 3D and sell it with self-employed or independent status ?
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
I called my retailer and his answer was not very clear to me. I don't think he really knows or no one has ever asked him this question.
He said "as long as you use it on your home computer for personal purpose, PTC won't watch what you're doing..." Commercial question ? ultra fuzzy response.
The only thing he was sure and he told me was the fact that it is absolutely forbidden to use the "home use" license for professional use for my employer.
While searching on the internet I found this :
https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article/CS246939
in the "resolution" paragraph we can read :
"Permitted users are allowed to perform commercial/production work with Home Use licenses on their personal/home computers."
Who are the permitted users ? And by who ?
I don't understand anything anymore...
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
obviously your supplier is unable to provide you with correct information...

... when customer buys subscription license of Creo Parametric, PTC adds 2 Home-use licenses to every single commercial license as gift.

Permitted user = employee which usually uses commercial license at company office.

From my understanding the technical answer is yes.
From a company standpoint, you may want to clear the usage of their software for home personal use for profit.
Hi,
the homeuse license is the property of the company that employs you. It allows you to work at home for the company that employs you. You may not use the license for any other purpose.

If you have use of Creo at your work location, that makes you a permitted user and you can then use the Home Use license on your home computer.
I would agree with Martin that it is for you to do work at home on company projects or for you to use for training to learn how to use the software better.
Commercial use for profit, PTC would expect you to buy your own license.
Doing home projects, not work related, could be possible, but like I said before, you should get permission from your company to use their software for your personal use.
We have issued 1 home use license to a contractor who was doing a loft for his church in a storage area. Not work related but he was doing the work for free, not profit.
