Creo with many Operating Company configurations

Creo with many Operating Company configurations

Within our company we have many smaller subdivisions that utilize Creo however they all have different config settings.  We run a customized start tool that depending on users selection loads the appropriate config settings for that OpCo.  Once in a Creo session there is no quick and easy way to see what OpCo the session was loaded with other than going to the config files in session and looking at a comment line or the Co. name.  This is time consuming for the support team and the user that could be working in various OpCo's.  Would it be possible to have a config setting that was a one line txt field which would be displayed in the top banner either just below or next to "PTC Creo Parametric"?

jahelgenberg,

You can create a bogus mapkey (one that doesn't perform any function) for each OpCo, and add the mapkey/icon to the Global Tab (I'm assuming you use a Global Tab in the ribbon) for each of your configs. You could also add it to the quick access toolbar if you have icons that distinguish your OpCo's. The user can simply look at the global tab or quick access toolbar to see what config they are running.

You'll have a custom creo_parametric_customization.ui (or creo_parametric_admin_customization.ui) for each OpCo.

An example of a simple mapkey:
mapkey OpCo1 @MAPKEY_NAMEOpCo1 Configuration;\
mapkey(continued) @MAPKEY_LABELOpCo1 Config;

Kind regards,

Not something which can directly implement however idea from @dnordin make sense and easy to implement as well.

How different are the configurations between the various companies?

Does a user switch between different company designs during their work day?

Do they have to log out and log back in selecting a new company before switching work?

Do you use a PDM system (Windchill, etc.) for data management? If so, can the users get to all products from a single login.
