Curve Fitting

Hello everyone

I'm curious to know who has used the curve fitting option (in the option generator) and what your thoughts are on it(what settings worked for you). I have a sittuation where some of the older machines in our shop have limited look aheads and or limited memory. If I could get a G2 or G3 instead of a million billion points that would be great.

Nick,

I haven't tried the curve fitting, but I would think it would be easy enought to make a copy of your post and make the changes to the copy and try it to see how the tap file looks. My guess would be lots of small arcs instead of points, but it might be a smaller file overall and run better as you are hoping it would

Steve

Right that is exaclty what I did. The tap file looks great but the suface finish is not as nice small deviations and visible mismatches (i hesitate to say gouges) hence my extremely small chordal setting. I'm hoping to find someone to tell me if its worth continued testing or to just leave it off.
