Hello All,
As you know all that Creo Perpetual license will be ending at the end of this year. From now on, only subscription license will be given to all the new users buying the creo software after the end of the year.
I want to know that if a previous user who had perpetual license and when he will upgrade or update or renew his license in its maintenance period, will the license still remain perpetual (lifetime) or that will be then change to subscription license as that will only be available from next year.
Hi,
Creo Perpetual license will remain perpetual forever.
Thanks @MartinHanak
even after upgrading to newer upcoming versions?
Hi,
every license has its ORDERED ITEM number. If this ORDERED ITEM belongs to perpetual license then the license will be perpetual forever (until PTC allows it ...).
One difference is that if you own a perpetual license , it is yours to use, even if you drop maintenance. You will always have access to your IP of your designs using your current licensed version of Creo.
With a subscription license, you pay for 1 year and at the end of that year the license is inactive and your IP is now locked with no access to it using Creo.
It allows PTC to generate a revenue stream every year with no effort. There have been a lot of companies that have purchased perpetual licenses in the past and then let the maintenance drop because they are happy with the current release and don't need to upgrade. I have 20 licenses but only 10 may be used after I move to Creo 4 because we dropped maintenance on 10 seats a few years ago. If we have an upturn in business, we will purchase some subscriptions but since we have the perpetual licenses, we will always have access to the IP data.
