Global Distribution of Creo Parametric Configuration?

Global Distribution of Creo Parametric Configuration?

Curious what types of technologies people might be using to manage and distribute their Creo Parametric configuration?

  • BAT scripts, PowerShell scripts, etc.
  • HTTP/HTTPS connection
  • Cloud file system
    • CFS with content delivery network or replication
  • Other?

The company I work at is employing more external suppliers who will need to run the company's configuration of Creo Parametric on their machine. Until now, we kept everything on the local network using mapped drives. The model does not work if we need to support external partners, not on our network and globally dispersed.

We are looking for a more automated and globally accessible way to update the content and have users connect to it

To get started, we are currently evaluating AWS S3 and FSx with plans to try multi-region and CDN

Love to hear about any success stories people already have with this problem

We have previously deployed the whole Creo install via mapped drives for common license, config.pro etc. This is painful when users work remotely or on poor connections, and Creo takes 10+ mins to load up initially, or can crash when devices are hibernated/put to sleep.

For some users we have deployed a local installation for a more stable Creo experience when working remotely. This means we have to periodically update config.pro/sup whenever we identify a change to the common settings- and would have to run Reconfigure.exe for those users' local Creo install if we were to ever change our licensing stack.

We are investigating mapped drives with local caching of the drive (e.g. Windows Sync Center) for Creo users who occasionally work remotely.

I imagine the initial sync/replication of the creo install directory could be painful if you were on the other side of the planet or without a 1GBps link...

Would be good to discover what other replication system/software exists for solving this problem without resorting to manually bodging something together similar to using rsync on linux.
