Instance Accelerator Files

Has anyone out there found a benefit from using family table Instance Accelerator files (they create .xpr and .xas files in your working directory)?

If so, what size of family tables are you using and how have you managed them in Intralink?

Thanks - I'll post relevant replies.

Terry,

How do I turn these things off? I am constantly deleting them from my
working directories prior to providing data to my customers. What a pain.

If you set this config.pro option to none it won't generate xpr files.

They do speed up retrieval times but they also take up a lot of disk space. I don't make huge family tables in terms on number of instances (20 max, usually less). but some of them are quite complex. The other advantage is if you want to use the Acrobat 3D PDF functionality. It is imperative that you have accelerator files if you want to create 3D PDF without Pro/E running.

For data I'm working on daily I save them. For old products that only get revised infrequently I delete them.

We don't use Intralink.
