License packaging

License packaging

Hi all,

We currently have seats of ProE Foundation and Process Modeler ADP lll.
These are outdated license packages that we've had for 10+ years. We're
also running WF 2 w/Intralink 3.3.
Our annual maintenance is about 130K

Ptc is pushing us to upgrade to Advanced XE and Enterprise XE, the current
versions of what we have. It will reduce our maintenance by around 35k a
year for the next three years, but will cost us about 200k up front to do
so (this years maintenance + the upgrade costs)

Anyone out there still using the original ProE Foundation or Process
Modeler ADP lll? I like the idea of upgrading (no more floating modules,
PDMLink included with all seats, etc). And the current packages do include
more modules and extensions. It just seems extremely prohibitive. Although
if we stay where we are, we end up paying the same anyway through
maintenance. Don't know why maintenance is so much less for a package that
has so much more.

Any one else going through this?

Thanks,
Stefan

Cost and Price are two completely different things. I think that most
of the long time Pro-E users faced the same obstacle.

I'm a long time user and still use a 'Foundation Advantage' license
(whatever that is), and get extremely upset at times, because I don't
get things like field points and/or axis points, just to name a few that
are / used to be included in a full 'Foundation' license. Also trying
to figure out what features are included in 'Assembly Performance' vs.
full AAX can be confusing.

The other thing is PTC's push toward extensions **X, vs. options **O.
Extensions are locked, options float.

It's amazing that if you signed-up new for Pro-E your costs / options
seem to be much better than a long time user. (Just my opinion)

This subject has been beat to death, though... Time to move on.
