Correct. PTC "guarantees" that any build code of Creo 4.0 Mxxx will be open-able in any other Creo 4.0 Mxxx.
Unfortunately you're going to have to do this again, as the PTC Community cannot help you. You need an actual support case with PTC Technical Support. When you are entering information in the case logger and it suggests you crate a post on the PTC Community, DON'T DO IT!. You need to pick the small text below that says 'engage with PTC' or something like that.
Since all files created within any release version of Creo are compatible, why do you need anything but the latest release of Creo 4 and Creo 6?
As Tom pointed out, we are a community of users who help other users, with some PTC comments at times. We cannot do things like license requests, software version downloads or troubleshoot a traceback log. For those, you need to open a case with PTC Tech Support.
Our customers are using those specific versions.
We can use updated versions, but then would always have to remember to save as the older versions to be compatible with our customers.

As @BenLoosli mentions above you can download any datecode of Creo 4 and Creo 6 to resolve your issue. All datecodes within a version are compatible for read/write of files. So if you have Creo 4 and Creo 6 installed you can support your customers you do not need to have a specific datecode.
There is no 'Save As' to a specific build of Creo, just to a version.
All files saved in any build of Creo 4 or Creo 6 can be opened in any other build of that version or a newer version.
Thanks for the answers everyone.
I actually did open up a PTC case to see if I could get the specific version. The first response was that they didn't offer the version we were looking for on the website (blanket statement). When I pointed out that it says to get earlier version, open a case (which is what I did), the case went radio silent.
Are you saying that I am running Creo 4.0 M100 and hit Save........someone with Creo 4.0 m050 would be able to open that file with no problem?
Thank you
Correct. PTC "guarantees" that any build code of Creo 4.0 Mxxx will be open-able in any other Creo 4.0 Mxxx.
Well, that may work then.........now, if I can get vendor to accept that answer......they may have to.....
Thanks much.
That is a written thing by PTC. You should be able to get PTC to provide documentation for it.
And, at my company, we have multiple build codes in use regularly. Users are allowed to stay with a build code as long as there is not business reason to move to a new one.
