Nvida Nview vs benchmark

Interesting that most of the difference is not in the graphics related tasks.

What card & driver are you using?

I also picked up nearly the identical M4800 for traveling. From the
factory, it was a huge disappointment, lockups, tons of things in event
viewer that looked bad, and a blue screen. I was going to return it but
could not find something to purchase that looked better to me.

I decided to try a minimal vanilla Win7 install from scratch. I did that
and it looked much better. I then installed the drivers from the Dell
support site and things went pear shaped again. I then stumbled upon a Dell
document with instructions for the exact order to install drivers on the
M4800. Starting over again from scratch with a Win7 install, then the
drivers that 'appeared' mandatory it has been working well, like a different
machine. No Nview. The Dell power items were a major source of problems so
I did not install that either.

I never knew you could remove just nview. It used to work well (several workstations and OS's ago), I really liked having multiple virtual desktops. Not as important now with dual screens but I would still use it if it didn't hose up. I will delete is since I can't use it. Surprising how your machine was faster without the graphics driver than with the driver and nview. I swear software has become so bloated and layered today that we are wasting 90% of the CPU cycles.
