Unfortunately, I don't even have a good handle on the terminology. The IT guy has moved on to bigger and greener pastures. He did spend a day or two trying different things.
I googled chipset drivers and found out that its basically the motherboard drivers.
If the motherboard is older and you are installing a newer video card and you don't get the results you expect, you might look into the chipset drivers.
I wish I had better info.
