PTCSTATUS NOT SHOWING IN USE LICENSE

hello everybody, we are using FLEXNET PUBLISHER 11.19

is it correct that PTCSTATUS on server machine is not showing IN USE license even if they are used by users?

ptc_d.log shows license as INACTIVE but the licenses are in use by designers.

thanks

We have a call open with PTC on this issue with 11.19.1.0. We are running it on Linux but apparently it also affects the Windows version. Description of the case:

"The 11.19.1.0 Linux ptc_d does not properly keep track of licenses. ptcstatus only shows a few licenses being used when in fact there are many more in use. This is not an issue with 11.17.1.0 or earlier versions."

There has been an spr filed however I do not know the number. All I have is: SPR Filed / Waiting on R&D

This is one of those cases where getting feedback/info from the TS is like pulling teeth. My last comment added to the case was on June 12th with the following questions:

"So is this spr reported because of this case? Or is the spr a result of some other customer reporting the same issue?
What is the spr #?
I always like to track them."

I still have not had a response back after 2 months.

Our case number is c16861894 if you want to reference it when you contact PTC.

The "good" part about this is you do not run out of licenses with this bug. You have an endless supply. The bad part is you can't track license usage.

Hi,

1.]

According to https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article/CS154266 Flexnet 11.19 is needed only in case that you need to run Creo 10.0.

I guess this is not your case, so you can downgrade to Flexnet 11.17.

2.]

https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article/CS398255 informs that SPR 14803074 was opened.

https://support.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/spr.jsp?n=14803074

3.]

https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article/CS396482 informs that you can test removing TIMEOUTALL from ptc.opt file.

Creo* 10

  • Creo Parametric
  • Creo View MCAD
  • Creo Illustrate
  • Others?

We have used "TIMEOUTALL 1200" forever, in our license options file, as I am sure most sites are.

I had no idea these articles existed. I assumed, since these were not referenced in my case, there were no articles. The case was opened 01-May-2023.

This is one of those cases where these articles should be one article and not 2 articles that don't even reference each other.

Taking a look at Flexera's FlexNet Publisher Release History:

FlexNet Publisher Release History

It appears they have fixed this in "2023 (11.19.X)":

  • Resolved loss of User Checked Out Information During Time Out

I bet that was an "oh crap" moment...

There is finally an acknowledgement of progress on our case with a new article added today to "Related Resources": CS394594 Ptcstatus from FlexNet Admin License Server (11.19) wrongly reports the number of licenses in use in Creo Parametric

This is yet another article dealing with the same issue for yet another spr dealing with the same issue:

SPR 14651709

thanks!

ptc_d 11.19.4.3 is now available for download this morning. I have updated our license server to this and can confirm this issue is fixed.
