Perpetual License Creo Parametric

Does PTC offer perpetual license for Creo Parametric 11.0 or 12.0?

Hi,

Creo Parametric 11.0 and also 12.0 recognizes both types of licenses ... subscription and perpetual.

The only problem is that customers cannot buy new perpetual license. They can use perpetual license bought in the past, only.

Thanks for the response.  However, I'm not getting the meaning of this.  Licenses are not backwards compatible, are they?  If I get Creo 12.0, I cannot acquire a perpetual license, but you stated Creo 12.0 will recognize both subscription and perpetual.  I logged a support case, and PTC will not answer the simple "yes or no" question, but turned it over to the Sales Department, and I have not heard back.  When did PTC no longer offer perpetual licenses?  Is the license now only subscription based for Creo Parametric?

Hi,

once again... PTC is currently selling new licenses as a subscription only.

If customer owns old active perpetual license, the he can use it to run Creo 11.0.

Please read my 1st response carefully, again.

I have a Creo 9.0 perpetual license, but in order to run Creo 12.0, I will need a Creo 12.0 license.  Correct?  The Creo 9.0 license will run any prior Creo Parametric software, 8.0, 7.0, 6.0, etc.  And if PTC only sells subscriptions, I cannot obtain a perpetual license for Creo Parametric 12.0.

You can get a new perpetual license, as long as you are on maintenance with PTC, to run the latest versions of Creo. Creo 11 is the latest released version.

If you need to obtain additional licenses, you can only do so with a subscription.

Hi,

if your perpetual license is inactive, this means you do not pay maintenance fee to PTC, then you have bad luck. This license is frozen on 9.0 version and you cannot upgrade it to 11.0 version. I agree with @BenLoosli

A few things to point out:

1.   All Creo license are backwards compatible.  None of them are forwards compatible.  A Creo 10 license will run Creo 2 just fine.

2.  A perpetual license is good for the version of Creo it was originally purchased for, and all prior versions.

3.  If maintenance is actively being paid for a perpetual license, then that license is good for the latest currently available version of Creo.

4.  If maintenance on a perpetual license is stopped, the license becomes locked to the last version of Creo available when the maintenance stopped.  It can continue to run that version of Creo, or any prior version, forever.

5.  Once maintenance has been stopped on a perpetual license, it cannot be restarted. Only new subscriptions can be purchased going forward.

6.  With subscription licenses, if the subscription is stopped, Creo will no longer run.  There is no longer any way to purchase a Creo license with 'perpetual' run rights.

7.  Starting in April next year, old license packages, including perpetual licenses still under maintenance, will no longer be able to be renewed.  The only option going forward will be a new subscription from one of the currently available packages.

Hi @TomU ,

can you please tell me where you got the following information?
