Summary: Annotation Display in Model

Summary: Annotation Display in Model

Thanks for all of the relpies, unfortunately I have not found a good answer. The two suggestions that I got from several users are...

Tools->Environment->Uncheck 3D Notes ==> This does not work!

Layers ==> Create layers by rule to automatically populate the rules
or
Layers ==> Create a layer using the config option to assign annotations to the layer:
def_layer layer_nogeom_feat 'enter layer name here'

You can do it with layers, but it's not very convenient. Especially if not everyone has followed the same layer conventions for their models.

The layer option is not a simple solution since I have to add the layer to several hundred parts and sub assemblies. Then I will have to check all of the parts into Intralink.

It would definitely be very helpful for PTC to add a toggle button for these, just like they have for datums, axes, points, and coordinate systems.
Better yet, automatically filter out the geometrics and annotations from the part levels when displayed in the assembly.

Still open to other options....

Thanks,
Brian

Sorry, your suggestion makes way too much sense. Kind of like the ability
to toggle the display of set-datums. Who would ever use that?

Erik

There's a horse so dead (the display of set GD&T datums in a model issue)
that it's decomposed to the point that there's nothing left to beat.

Note the date of the following:

It is from over four years ago. A formal enhancement request was even
filed, which may be proof that the enhancement process via a technical
committee doesn't work. Nothing was ever heard after it was filed, my
guess is that it was relegated to enhancement purgatory ...

Yeah, what he said! I was working on a concept to try to sell to PTC where
we could establish our own master on/off buttons, based on layer rule
functionality so we would have what we wanted but didn't need to modify the
parts.

Totally agree. However, as you probably know, a mapkey can hide all set
datums in all levels of an assembly. A workaround, but better than
looking thru all those boxes.

Jim

Does the mapkey work if you are working in a large assembly consisting of
components that don't have consistent layer naming?
