Thanks for all of the relpies, unfortunately I have not found a good answer. The two suggestions that I got from several users are...
Tools->Environment->Uncheck 3D Notes ==> This does not work!
Layers ==> Create layers by rule to automatically populate the rules
or
Layers ==> Create a layer using the config option to assign annotations to the layer:
def_layer layer_nogeom_feat 'enter layer name here'
You can do it with layers, but it's not very convenient. Especially if not everyone has followed the same layer conventions for their models.
The layer option is not a simple solution since I have to add the layer to several hundred parts and sub assemblies. Then I will have to check all of the parts into Intralink.
It would definitely be very helpful for PTC to add a toggle button for these, just like they have for datums, axes, points, and coordinate systems.
Better yet, automatically filter out the geometrics and annotations from the part levels when displayed in the assembly.
Still open to other options....
