We had some trouble launching Pro/E for one user. Xtop.exe appeared in the task manager for a few seconds (while the splash screen appears) but then died and Pro/E never launches. The odd thing is that it would only occur while the affected user is signed on.....if myself or any another user is logged in, Pro/E launches without issue. Firewall, spybot or Windows Defender must have been preventing xtop.exe from running properly??? User indicated that he might have answered deny or block to a prompt related to XTOP. Could not find any records within Firewall that it was getting blocked though and XTOP WAS already in the exceptions list.
The std.out file had "Exception - code was -1073741819"
Trail file looked like the following:
!trail file version No. 1350 !Pro/ENGINEER TM Wildfire 3.0 (c) 2006 by Parametric Technology Corporation All Rights Reserved. < 0 1.178074 1543 0 0 994 1680 0 0 1050 13 !mem_use INCREASE Blocks 148632, AppSize 28768408, SysSize 37576760
We upgraded to the latest graphics drivers and this did not help.
The solution that got him up and running again was to DELETE HIS USER PROFILE then let a new user profile get built upon next sign-on. Although less than ideal, it enabled him to get back to work. I'm hoping that someone has a seen this and has a more simple solution. Thanks in advance.
