occasional black screen

Hi All!
I have 2 users whose screens would lock up and turn off (black)occasionally.
Both of them are on dell precision m6500 laptops win xp64 with nVidia Quadro FX3800M graphics card.
I have tried the latest driver from dell ver 257.29. But it did not fix the problem
The original driver was 188.43
Do you have the same or similar hardware? What driver works for you?

Thank you,
Dmitry

I have a Dell Precision T5500 desktop running Win7 64 and a Quadro
FX3800 and have similar issues.  My boss has a new 15" Dell Precision
laptop, also running Win7 64 and he's had similar issues.  Not sure of
the exact model & graphics card, but it's brand new.

I have 16 new Dell T3500 Workstations running Win7 64 and a Quadro FX3800
with some users experiencing a flashing on and off of the screen from time
to time. The screen goes black for a second or two and turns back on.

I updated the drivers several times with no solution.

I did notice that the Quadro FX3800 is not a Certified Card by PTC and
therefore has not option for "Wildfire" under the application templates in
the graphics options.

Maybe it's time we get some feedback from Nvidia and ask them what's up
with the FX3800.

Here is some update: I contacted Dell TS. They told me that it is known issue (which is true even on their own forum there are lots of people complaining about it) and we need to replace faulty memory and it is by Korean manufacturer Hynix. So, they sent me a replacement overnight, but it did not fix the problem. I am going to call them after the break.

Another update: DELL decided to replace a CPU saying that the overheating might have caused that issue. They replaced it, but, a couple of hours later we got the frozen black screen again. Next step (i hope last) is to replace the whole m6500 laptop.
