New line in string

I am trying to insert a new line in string. I tried with this(below pic) but not working. Any help?

Try displaying the result in text area widget in a mashup and it will be displayed in a new line. Refer below screenshot,

I am trying to send an email. In the body I need to send message with new lines.

But I want my result to be like this,

When I pass string in the body I was unable to get the text in new line. But when I send html in body I am getting the text in a new line. This is the only way I was able to make it work.
