Services running in inactive tabs on a mashup

It seems like all the data retrieval & update services run in a mashup even if its tab(s) are not selected. Is this normal behavior ?

Can it be eliminated ? It seems like it is generating a lot of unnecessary load on the server.

Any thoughts ?

If it poses a lot of load on the Server/Client, you can use a Menu driving a contained mashup instead vs. tabs

You might be able to drive this behavior from Tabs, but it will be more complicated, it would use the Tab selected event into determining the value of the selected tab into some logic (Service or Validator).
