ThingWorx foundation without license

Hi,

Will the thingworx foundation not run without the license installed? The ThingWorx foundation is installed in our server but we have not applied the license. Whenever we start the tomcat and try to run without license, the tomcat automatically stops. Is there a dependency of license for apache and thingworx foundation to run? Is it not possible to up the thingworx foundation to run as unlicensed version and import entities and apply the license later?

Hi @svisveswaraiya 

You need to check the logs to determine the cause of the failure.  Check the ApplicationLog.log located in \ThingworxStorage\logs.  If no logs exist there, check the <tomcat_home>\logs.  Some likely causes:

• Invalid syntax in \ThingworxPlatform\platform-settings.json
• Unable to connect to DB--check the settings in platform-settings.json to ensure the password, port, etc. are correct

A ThingWorx licensing issue would not prevent Tomcat from running.  If this is a new installation, ThingWorx should start up in limited mode until the license is applied.
