In Thingworx 8 the frame layout widget could be used to responsively layer widgets on top of each other, which was useful for putting things like charts with transparent properties in front of other charts and images. In Thingworx 9 the only way to layer items along the z axis is to set the containers to static and defining a fixed width and height. This leads to less responsiveness on the page, since as the screen size changes scrollbars are introduced, rather than the widget and container scaling down.
3. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization?
Layering mashups on top of images in a responsive way can help with value displays over the top of asset images, but more importantly we show various performance charts that require two layers of a chart showing different types of information, but relate to each other. In Thingworx 8 it was possible to do this responsively with a frame layout, but as we look into mobile and tablet friendly approaches to displaying our dashboards, most aspects should be responsive which in this case has been removed in Thingworx 9,
