Password Reset Enhancement

1. What version of Thingworx are you currently running?
ThingWorx 9.2.3-b189

2. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images or video.

The issue is question is to do with the password reset page specifically.

On this page:

The error feedback when resetting password always says "Reset attempt failed". This does not provide adequate reason as to why a password reset has failed to the user.

Password Reset does not show Thingworx password rules.

Password Reset does not allow custom password rules to be applied.

The password rules I can be read in the Thingworx documentation. However a client user will not know to look there.

3. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization?
This issue has been raised by a client.

We currently have additional password criteria when creating users on the platform via custom mashup's. This functionality is circumnavigated by the Password reset page not supporting it.

Providing feedback on password reset is part of any large application. Even if it is as simple as telling the user that the new password and confirm password are not the same.

Using custom password rules allows us to enhance the security of our application. This being circumnavigated by the Password reset is a security flaw.

Simply displaying the Thingworx password rules on the password reset page just makes the user experience easier when having to Reset a password. This will impact less technology literate users.

Allowing us to implement stronger password rules will allow us to keep up with standard Industrial practices.
