During design time there is no validation of the IdentityProviderGroupMappings. In case you type a mapping incorrectly you are locked out of the thingworx instance. 

 

Proposal:

Validate the existence of a thingworx group before saving a mapping (during design time)

OR

Ignore badly configured mappings during authentication (during run time)
