Currently when a user clicks a row on a table its possible to use "selected rows changed" event with "selected rows" binding to open a popup with the values from the selected row.   However, a common use case is needing to open a popup with the value of the clicked cell (including which column & row was clicked).   This is possible with the collection widget but seems overkill for a simple functionality that's needed very frequently. I would like to have the best in class implementation of a Grid widget in Thingworx. Currently with the 4.2.0 version of the Advanced Grid widget, available into the PTC Marketplace, the only way to filter the table is to send the data back to the server. Now a day, most of the javascript libraries support: CLIENT SIDE sort and filtering Advanced column by column filtering with drop down list A functional sort by date. The UI in the Manufacturing Starter Apps can be used to set up an Industrial Gateway in order to create a connection between Kepware and the ThingWorx server. When it is set up through the Manufacturing Apps, it also creates a "master" Remote Thing that mimics the Industrial Gateway and contains all of the tags coming from Kepware as properties. When Assets are created in the Manufacturing Apps UI, any property bindings made in the Configuration and Setup application will use the "master" Remote Thing to create the bindings as local bindings instead of directly from Industrial Gateway as remote bindings. If there are a significant number of properties coming from Kepware, this "master" Remote Thing can cause a bottleneck and cause the system to drastically decrease its performance and potentially crash.   Crashes were experienced approximately every 20 minutes with 20 devices sending 18 properties each through a single Kepware connection to ThingWorx. This calculates to 360 properties on the "master" Remote Thing with 15 of the properties sending updates every 30ms and the remaining on value change.    For a production system, we have changed the architecture to used a distributed system with multiple remote things in order to distribute the load so the system doesn’t not crash. An architecture like this is more suited for a large scale production system. Hi team,   Currently IOT only needs English articles and don't have request for local language translation, so APAC team also writes only English documents.   While how SF works gives us some trouble, we need to take extra steps for each case we have: change the client's language to English - create article - change the client's language back, or else the article will be marked in our local language, and this happens to all Japanese and general Chinese language cases. This extra and meaningless work caused some trouble in our daily operations, hopefully you can add a language choice button in article directly, so it will work for all PTC products who need or do not need local language translations.   Thanks. ... Thingworx 9 Composer has a nice feature for copying app keys, a small copy button (see attachment). I suggest to add this to any place in builder where UIDs are used, mostly job IDs. Model job IDs must often be copied when working with the API. ... View more

In Thingworx 8.4, Expressions and Validators have been moved to Functions. This is great and easier to write javascript code. However, there is no more "Configure Bindings" popup available for Expressions and Validators and those popups are really useful when the mashup contains many widgets. The RMSE Bubble Chart in Builder needs to be a square (preferably responsive), no matter what the screen size. The reason is because in Analytics, a good model tracks the 45 degree angle line (predicted = actual). Currently the size of the chart adjusts, which makes the performance confusing to interpret. It is possible that Predicted and Actual end up having different [min,max] intervals, in which case, to make it a square we need to take the min of min's and max of max's across Predicted and Actual. ... It is known that ThingWorx's role as Service provider can fetch data from Resource provider-Windchill after an SSO authorization process as documented in "PTC_Single_Sign_on_Architecture_and_Configuration_Overview_Guide_172779". The process for installing Thingworx is very manual at the moment and can take a long time (depending on your experience), can this process be automated or simplified, maybe create an installation wizard to manage most of the underlying config?   I went wrong somewhere in the installation and have wasted days with PTC support just trying to fix it so I can actually start using the platform. I hope using the platform is a better experience but the installation process could definitely be improved for a multi-million pound platform. ... View more

The main menu in Analytics Builder is Models, Signals, Profiles, Data. The typical workflow is Data Upload, Creating Signals, Creating Profiles, Creating Models. The predominant (western) UI flow is Left-to-Right, Top-to-Bottom (Z-Pattern or F-Pattern), so the idea is to reorder the menu to Data, Signals, Profiles, Model to give new users the least "surprise". ... It may have following types of security vulnerabilities for ThingWorx: Third party components (Tomcat, Java, database, OS, etc.) ThingWorx itself For security vulnerabilities of the third party applications, generally it needs to update the third party components to fix the issues. But because of the compatibility consideration, sometimes it needs to update/upgrade ThingWorx to fit the updated third-party application.   Unfortunately it generally needs much more time to upgrade ThingWorx than updating the third party application. So it will help to decrease the customer's efforts a lot if: ThingWorx vulnerabilities could be fixed by hot-fix or security-update-patch(SUP), without upgradin ThingWorx.
