Colors on imported 3D cad models in Vuforia Editor and Vantage

I have observed that parts in imported 3D models (e.g. from Creo Parametric) are displayed in different colors. But the colors that were assigned to the parts in the source systems are not displayed? Is it possible to control this behavior? And how can this be controlled?
