Reducing errors with more detailed procedures
Providing the best possible context in procedures ensures a reduction in mistakes and is an essential reason for using AR-enhanced expert guidance. Vuforia Editor continues to advance capabilities that enable more refined content in procedures.
Image enhancements
Images attached to steps in procedures improves the context for front-line workers by highlighting specific details that make the guidance more accurate. To improve the meaning even more, Vuforia Editor now includes tools to create textual and visual cues to call attention to essential details in images.
Images taken with Vuforia Capture and those imported from external sources can now be enhanced with annotations including shapes, icons and text, and edited for size and orientation.
Editing and publishing procedures more efficiently
Vuforia Expert Capture continues to make the process of editing and publishing procedures even easier and faster. Vuforia Editor has improved the ability to scale procedural content, added a way to quickly identify published procedures, and can now provide a web-based preview of the procedure at any point in the authoring process.
Copy procedures
When procedures have many of the same steps, it may be faster to copy and edit an existing procedure. Vuforia Editor now allows you to copy a previously recorded procedure as a starting point for a new procedure.
Preview procedures
For faster time-to-publishing, Vuforia Editor now allows you to preview a procedure without having to publish and view it on a device. When you select the preview button in the edit or share panel, a separate window appears that will preview the procedure exactly how you would see it using Vuforia View on a 2D device. You can expand the preview window or open the preview in a new tab.
Published procedures identifier
When managing many procedures, it may become cumbersome to identify those that are published. Procedures that are published are now easily identifiable by an icon featuring a “cloud with an up arrow” that appears in the upper right of procedure thumbnails.
Improving editing and publishing workflow and compliance
Industrial enterprises need to empower authors, editors, and managers to take a structured approach that complies with editing and publishing policies. The result of correctly managed editing and publishing workflows is better quality, compliant and more accurate content, and faster progress towards publishable content.
Configure editing permissions
Procedures may need to be edited by several people depending on the complexity of work instructions or limited to one individual due to security and compliance. Vuforia Editor now gives you the flexibility to designate the appropriate editing permissions that suits both situations.
When you select creating a new procedure, the dialog box nows has a checkbox option that allows you to give others editing permission to your procedures.
Publishing rights
Organizations may need to separate the responsibilities of procedure editors from those that must review, approve, and publish final procedures. A new “manager” role for Vuforia Editor allows only those authorized to publish procedures.
In the latest release existing authors have been changed to managers by default to keep editing and publishing rights they already had. An administrator may change manager roles to authors to remove publishing permissions if necessary. When a new user is invited by the administrator as an author, they will not have publishing and unpublishing permissions
