What's New in Vuforia Expert Capture 3.20.0

Vuforia Editor

  • Improvements to Step Check™
    • Step Checks can now be shared between steps of the same procedure. For more information, see Shared Step Checks.
    • Users can now select a thumbnail image for pass or fail state from the collected images.
    • The loading time of the Step Check dashboard has been improved for cases where many images are available.
    • The Step Check thumbnail shown on step cards is no longer obstructed by another icon.
  • New Product Setting Requires Note Before Publishing
    • A new product setting is available that when enabled, requires a note/comment upon publishing a procedure. By default, the setting is disabled.
  • Improved Messaging for Video Playback
    • A message is now displayed if a user attempts to play an unsupported video file format or if a user does not have access to a video. Previously, the video player displayed a loading spinner indefinitely if a video could not be loaded.
  • Improvements to Loading Time of Asset Library
    • The loading time of the asset view was improved for cases where there are many assets available in the organization.
  • Improved Messaging When Trying to Upload Unsupported File Type
    • When trying to upload an unsupported file type, an error is now provided that includes additional details about the issue. Previously, only information in the status bar was displayed.

Vuforia Vantage

  • General (All mobile and eyewear platforms updated in this release)
    • Model Target tracking has been improved to be more robust with objects that have smooth, untextured surfaces such as cars or pressed sheet metal parts.
  • iOS
    • Vuforia Capture for mobile is now generally available and no longer in beta! Vuforia Vantage users with Author, Manager, or Administrator roles will see a new My Captures tab upon opening the app. Users no longer need to scan a QR code to activate the feature; instead, administrators can now enable or disable it for all users through a new product setting. By default, this setting is enabled (except for Vuforia Validate (GxP) customers). Other updates to Vuforia Capture for mobile for this release include:
      • The migration code which automatically moved mobile captures that were taken in 3.17 to a new location (under the "Captures" folder) in versions 3.18 and 3.19 has been removed. If you have not used either the 3.18 or 3.19 version and upgraded directly from 3.17 to 3.20, the capture will no longer be listed in the application; however, the folder will still be available via USB.
      • Captures can now be uploaded from inside of Vuforia Vantage using the ellipses menu (...) next to the capture name on the My Captures tab.
      • Users can now delete a step and related assets using the ellipses menu (...).
      • The location marker UI has been improved to allow users to cancel the placement and/or delete an existing marker.
      • An “X” button was added to the capture name entry field to quickly clear the name.
For more information about Vuforia Capture for mobile, see Capture Procedures with Vuforia Vantage (iOS Only)
      • The visualization of part markers has been improved. The interior of parts is no longer rendered, making visualization easier to understand (especially for complex parts). Additionally, if two part markers overlap in the camera view, they will be merged.
  • Android
    • Vuforia Vantage for 32-bit Android devices will be removed from the Google Play Store. If you already have Vuforia Vantage installed on 32-bit Android devices, you can continue to use the app, but no updates will be available. Vuforia Vantage for 64-bit Android devices will remain available.
    • The visualization of part markers has been improved. The interior of parts is no longer rendered, making visualization easier to understand (especially for complex parts). Additionally, if two part markers overlap in the camera view, they will be merged.

Vuforia Insights

  • Serial ID Column Now Always Displayed on Viewer Insights Table
    • The Serial ID column is now always displayed on the VIEWER INSIGHTS table, and is also included in the exported CSV file. Previously, the column was excluded from the table and exported file if no procedure sessions contained a serial ID.

Vuforia Settings

  • New Product Setting for Enabling and Disabling Vuforia Vantage for Mobile
    • A new Disable/Enable Mobile Capture in Vuforia Vantage setting is available that allows administrators to either disable or enable Vuforia Vantage for mobile within Vuforia Vantage. When enabled, users will be able to access the My Captures tab and create captures with their supported iOS mobile devices. By default, the setting is enabled (except for Vuforia Validate (GxP) customers). For more information about the setting, see Disable/Enable Mobile Capture in Vuforia Vantage. For more information about Vuforia Vantage for mobile, see Capture Procedures with Vuforia Vantage (iOS Only).
  • New Product Setting Requires Note Before Publishing
    • A new Require Note Before Publishing setting is available that when enabled, requires a note/comment upon publishing a procedure. By default, the setting is disabled. For more information, see Require Note Before Publishing.
