Can't access Thingworx composer from my Thingworx Studio trial version

I'm new with thingworx. I installed thingworx  studio trial version on my windows 10 PC. I would like to access the composer of the same(my trial version) but I'm unable to.

I have tried using the url provided in the settings section but still cannot access it.  Does anybody have an idea/ options of how to go about with this? Is anyone having the same issue?

Thanks

@Peteromo You can access the ThingWorx instance associated with your Studio by changing the ES URL as below
https://XXXX.studio-trial.thingworx.io:8443/Thingworx

Note: Replace XXXX.studio-trail.thingworx.io with your own URL. It should ask for ThingWorx login credentials.

Hi,

Thanks for your input. I tried the url but it still can't connect. The error message is displayed below

"Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site.

We can’t connect to the server at 68sr4mro.studio-trial.thingworx.io.

When I try accessing using "http://localhost:3000/thingworx" it still cannot access. The error message is displayed below

"Error connecting to the ThingWorx server."

@dupatel any help?

Is there something  that I need to configure before the url can work or any settings/configuration that needs to be done?

@Peteromo I am checking internally to see why your trial URL is not reachable and get back to you with a fix soon. Sorry for the inconvenience caused .

@Peteromo Your existing URL got expired and it seems your account has the new URL.

This is the one that will be available until 3/1/2019:

Experience Service: https://xas2fpzl.studio-trial.thingworx.io

ThingWorx:  https://xas2fpzl.studio-trial.thingworx.io:8443/Thingworx/

Hello there,

I just saw this topic. I am trying to do the same thing,  I have a TW Composer instance is running on my computer (120 days) butI cannot see any of my things in TW Studio so they aren't connected. I have "Configure Public Access to ThingWorx" as per the link https://support.ptc.com/help/thingworx_hc/thingworx_studio/en/index.html#page/ThingWorx_Studio_Help_...

But I don't know what to do in step 7 and 8, what's the Administrative console,  the settings in TW Studio?  and the anonymous application Key?

I am quite lost, to be honest, I'm just trying to display a few values in TW studio from my thing in TW composer. I have read something about configuring the federation server as well.

Could somebody kindly walk me through the necessary steps?

Many thanks.

@iherreros  To get data from ThingWorx(TWX) to Studio you could use ThingWorx instance associated with your Studio Trial something similar to below -

ThingWorx URL : https://xxxxxxxx.studio-trial.thingworx.io:8443/Thingworx
Studio Experience Service (ES😞 https://xxxxxxxx.studio-trial.thingworx.io/ExperienceService/ui

Regarding your query related to point 7 and 8, it is about changes to be done in Experience Service (ES) which can be access using above ES URL. You do not need to actually make any changes if you are not using any proxy. It is already configured in case of Trial instances during provisioning of Studio Trial instances.

My understanding is that you are facing issue since you have entities in different ThingWorx Trial ( URL without studio-trial) instance which is not associated with Studio. It is very easy to access TWX entities created on ThingWorx associated with Studio.

So, make sure your entities are present in Studio Trial ThingWorx instance and has right visibility & permissions as mentioned in Help center Page under User Authorization.

Hope it helps.

Hi Durgesh,

Many thanks for answering my question.

Indeed, I didn't realize that a trial instance of the composer is installed along with the TW Studio. Now, it is working. I found that very same composer url in another link, and after that, I linked both composer instances (trial and hosted) using the federated systems.

Then, I configured the permissions, created a federated thing and I link it to a thing in my hosted composer. For a beginner, this is not something straightforward, and it doesn't seem to be a complete guide to do all of these (or at least I haven't come across it); you have to navigate the forums to find out what to do.

Many thanks for your help.

Best regards.

Hi @iherreros,

I have the same problem. Can you please explain to us how did you linked between the two Composer instances ?

Regards.

Hi MohuMouad_Ech-chaab,

Sure no problem.

In this case, you would need two instances of TW. One would act as a "data source" and hosts all the things (remote things) you want to publish; the other would act as "data consumer" and hosts all the federated thigs ( a federated thing is a thing that you have to create and link to your remote things).

In this post, you will find all the information that you need to do the above:

https://community.ptc.com/t5/IoT-AR-Tech-Tips/TWX-Federation-Setup-Guide-docx/m-p/533533

These are the steps:

  1.  Create your remote things and tick the Publish box, so they can be browsed from the other TW instance
  2. Create federated systems as per link above
  3. Configure public access in the federated thing, as @dupatel mentioned (https://support.ptc.com/help/thingworx_hc/thingworx_studio/en/index.html#page/ThingWorx_Studio_Help_Center%2FAnonymousAccess.html%23)

The last step is very important as you won't be able to see your remote thing in TW Studio. One more thing, in order to see your remote thing properties in TW Studio you have to go to your federated thing properties and click on the "Manage Bindings" button and add your remote thing properties to it.

I hope this helps.

Best regards

Irene

Hi @pablopisana,

Could you please elaborate your question a little bit more? Are you having problems accessing your composer or connecting two Thingworx composers?

Hola @pablopisana,

Podrias explicar un poco mas cual es tu problema? No puedes acceder a tu Composer o no puedes conectar dos Thingworx composer entre si?

Many thanks

Muchas gracias

Hi, do you solved the problem ? I'm facing the same thing.

Hi Durgesh, I can`t access Composer Server using my trial account. The Experience Service is https://e3abb9fa7debf0aa.studio-trial.vuforia.io , I tried https://e3abb9fa7debf0aa.studio-trial.vuforia.io/VuforiaExperienceService, it can be opened. But I can`t access https://e3abb9fa7debf0aa.studio-trial.vuforia.io:8443/Thingworx . I guess the Composer server is not hosted by PTC?
