Hi , PTC Support team
We want to be able to see the edges of 3D model in view apps.
Because If can be see the edges , we clealy visible for tracking is correct or lost.
We would be grateful if you would kindly consider it
Hi @T.Nakamura,
currently you can use the tracking event to check the tracking status
So first you need in the 3D container widget to enable the tracking events ,Extended tracking and Persist Map ( so far I remember - on mobile only - on the HoloLens they are set by default ) and then in the ModelTarget widget you can use the event Tracking Acquired and Tracking Lost events were you can via script set some properties e.g. set specific shader or load specific model (e.g. model containing only some parts on the Assembly , possibly boundary in specific color or you could set specific color. (e.g. you can find in the help http://support.ptc.com/help/vuforia/studio/en/#page/Studio_Help_Center%2Fmetadata%2FMetadata_201_Highlight_Parts.html%23wwID0EQJRT )
Currently we do not have an edge highlight property or shader (or other kind of wireframe shader) so currently you can use for highlight only specific shader with colors or set a value of 3d label informing about the tracking status
The PTC R&D already works on such implementation but so far I understood it is not trivial and will need some time to be implemented. The already reported in the past related issue is the Jira Ticket STUD-3480. So I reported now your request to the PTC R&D and Product Management team as Jira VTS-1186 and linked it to the already existing related topic STUD-3480. When there is some feedback form R&D I will post this here. Thanks! Best Regards
Hi @T.Nakamura ,
R&D team is further considering the enhancement and working on the issue reported in your post /respectively reported in dev Jira Ticket /
//here is the feedback
" could you see if you can gather more information about the use case? The pictures look like a car chassis, it is a inspection or assembly use case? Why is it important for them to make sure that the tracking alignment is accurate?"
//========
Could you please , provide exaplaination to the specific use case. If this information is confidential then please, answer as private message. Thanks
The use case is to inspect the position of the welding point of the car.
Could you check the direct message?
The tracking data drifts depending on the location of the car.
In particular, straight areas such as roof rails, B-pillars and side sills.
Our customer has the use case that workers need to inspect a vehicle chassis for completeness. It is crucial for them to not forget a part in a current state of assembly. The CAD model of the desired state is overlayed to the real life chassis. Seeing components partially hidden is crucial for a good oversight of the desired state. A sample video for the use case is attached. It is not showing a chassis chassis but it shows the use case.
Same use case here in the area of automotive and product presentation / visualization of product options + variants. Showing the customer a fully transparent model represented only by its edges is a good thing.
@pjahn thanks for the feedback. Add to the R&D ticket Jira VTS -1186.
If there is any further feedback from other members, that would be great. Many thanks!
